Accountants and auditors
aidoom.ai editorial team · Data as of August 2026 · Updated 15 Oct 2026Not on current projections. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment of accountants and auditors to grow 5% from 2025 to 2035, with about 115,300 openings a year. The work itself is highly exposed: in the GPTs are GPTs study (2023), human raters judged that a language model, alone or inside other software, could halve the time needed for 26 of the job's 30 O*NET tasks, a score in the top third of 923 occupations. Exposure means the tasks could change, not that the job disappears.

How the level is set: the study's human raters labelled each O*NET task by whether a language model could cut the time it takes by half or more. The score is the share of tasks rated exposed, with tasks that need extra software counted at half weight (the paper's main measure). We do not rate jobs ourselves. We only split the 923 occupations in the study into thirds: Low below 0.160, Medium from 0.160 to below 0.413, High from 0.413. The ratings date from 2023 and used O*NET 27.2 task lists, so they do not reflect newer AI tools. Exposure is not a forecast of job losses; the BLS projections are a separate source.
